First-time Buyer Concession
Hong Kong permanent residents purchasing their first property enjoy lower stamp duty rates. Properties priced at HK$4 million or below only require HK$100 stamp duty.
Non-Permanent Residents
Non-Hong Kong permanent residents are required to pay an additional 15% Buyer's Stamp Duty (BSD), resulting in a higher total tax rate.
Company Buyers
Purchasing residential property under a company name requires payment of 15% Buyer's Stamp Duty plus additional stamp duty.
Payment Deadline
Stamp duty must be paid within 30 days of signing the sale and purchase agreement. Late payment will incur penalties.
